I-96 SPEEDWAY SIGNS WITH THE NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI has signed on with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series, giving the four-year-old series for weekly dirt late model racers its northern most facility under its sanction.  The signing of I-96 Speedway now gives the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series a new challenge in its growth.

Competitors in the I-96 Speedway NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division will now have the opportunity to compete against each other for a Track point fund, as well as competing against other drivers at other tracks in Region for an additional point fund.  Contingency Awards will also be presented to both Track and Regional Champions.

The Regional Champions receive $1,500, a new GM Performance 604 Crate Engine, and a new race car chassis.

“We were really impressed with the enthusiasm expressed by both the I-96 Speedway management, and the track competitors towards the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series,” NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Director Roby Helm said.  “Both the track and the competitors understood the economical benefits of the series and knew the time was right to sign with us.  They have already been working hard to promote this new Division, and have been working towards getting engines to competitors.”

Dirt Late Models competing in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series throughout the country utilize the economical GM Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.  These engines are shipped to GM dealers throughout the country.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series makes two of the GM Performance Crate Engines available for use in series events.  The 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine costs just over $5,200.00 and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine costs just over $3,200.00 and gets a 150-pound weight break.

Both racing engines are available at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA with free delivery anywhere in the Southeast.  NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series members from I-96 Speedway will also be eligible to earn NeSmith Chevrolet Loyalty Rewards points for purchases made at the dealership, with the top two point earners in the country winning all inclusive vacations to Cancun, Mexico.

“The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series offers many benefits to I-96 Speedway and its competitors,” I-96 Speedway Owner Mike Mouch said.  “The series promotional efforts will expand the awareness of I-96 Speedway and its competitors nationwide, and their technical support will help keep a level playing field in an effort to provide a level playing field, which will lend itself to economical racing, and more competitive racing.  We already have 18 drivers committed to this Division, with more on the way.”

In addition to the point the local and regional point funds, and the contingency awards offered by the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series, the top ten drivers in the I-96 Speedway point standings will also be eligible to compete in a special “post season” race.

The 4th Annual NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals on November 27-28 at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS is a special post-season event for the Top 10 in each Region, and the Top 10 drivers from each NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series sanctioned track in the country.

The Fall Nationals will be highlighted by a 30-lap $2,000-to-win main event, and there will also be a Race of Regions featuring the top drivers in each Region, and the Race of Champions that will feature the Track Champions from each sanctioned track.

The signing of I-96 Speedway to the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series has given the series a new challenge, which they are gladly embracing, and are enthusiastically moving forward with.

“Signing I-96 Speedway gives us a northern base for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series and we now have a large geographical gap to fill between Michigan and Tennessee,” Helm said.  “Mike Mouch and his staff have committed to help the series grow in Michigan, and we are in contact with other promoters and industry leaders that are interested in bringing the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series into Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia.”

Helm also said with the interest of late models powered by the GM Performance Crate Engines in Michigan, it could open the door for the expansion of the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour.

“The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring Series has enjoyed success in the Southeast for the past four years,” Helm said.  “Now with the interest north of the Mason-Dixon Line, it could open the door for a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Northern Tour in the coming years.”

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series now has sanctioned tracks in Michigan, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi.  Helm said the series will be announcing more new tracks signing with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series in the coming days.
